Margaret J. Baumert
August 5, 1927 - December 2, 2018
Margaret Jean Baumert of Herndon, PA, entered into her heavenly home Sunday, December 2, 2018. She was born to the late George Shaffer and Sarah Troutman Shaffer on August 5, 1927. She was a beautiful woman of faith who loved God and trusted Him for everything in her life. She loved her family more than life, and always looked forward to family get-togethers. She enjoyed the time she spent with all of her family. She was a very compassionate, loving, kind, and generous person who would do anything for anybody. If she saw a need, she would willingly share what little she had to help another. She was deeply loved and cherished by her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren affectionately called her "Mem." They loved going to Mem's house to play cards, talk, and just laugh and have fun with Mem. There were times when Mem would crack a joke, and in the process crack herself up, laughing that hearty "dutch" laugh that was uniquely her own. Margaret was a great cook, and shared her tasty food with not just family, but any visitor(s) who would come to the house. She made sure no one ever left her house hungry. She made everyone feel welcome in her home. She enjoyed gospel and country music, watching the Hallmark Channel, and viewing old family videos with her family. She never left a loved one leave the house without a hug, kiss, and "I Love You." She spoke fluent Pennsylvania Dutch. She was invited to travel with family and enjoyed every moment to see and experience new things. She looked forward to the yearly family reunions where she would catch up with long distance family. She was married to George Edward Baumert for 40 years. She was a homemaker who worked alongside her husband on the family-owned dairy farm, while raising 10 children. She was a hard worker who also enjoyed life. She was content with what she had and always considered herself blessed that God had given her such a wonderful family. She prayed daily for everyone and everything. She was a wonderful example of the Proverbs 31 woman to her family. Margaret is survived by her children Ruby & Guy Brown, Barbara & Larry Adams, George & Debra Baumert, Sandra & Larry Bolton, Jean & Charles Erdman, Shirl & Merlin Derck, Debra & Thomas Donmoyer, Kevin & Sherri Baumert, Ricky Baumert; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren (and one on the way!); Siblings, William "Bill" Shaffer (Cleo), Anna Mae Mentzer (Lanston - deceased), Eugene "Gene" Shaffer (Shirley). She is preceded in death by her husband George Edward Baumert, and her son David Baumert; siblings Roy Shaffer (Catherine - deceased), and George "Bud" Shaffer (Lorraine - deceased), Norman Shaffer, and a brother in infancy; Half-Siblings, Myrlie Grimm (Lee - deceased), John Shaffer (Veronica - deceased), Felix Shaffer, and Sara Shaffer-Latsha.
